Link Equity

What is Link Equity?

Link equity (roughly “PageRank flow”) is the value transferred by links. Internal links distribute equity inside your site; external links bring it in.

Example: Your homepage earns strong external links; linking prominently to a new product category passes more equity than burying it in a footer.

Why Link Equity matters

Link equity matters because internal linking distributes authority; orphan pages and poor hierarchy leave strong pages invisible despite site-wide backlinks.

How Link Equity works in digital marketing

Point important internal links from high-authority pages, prune orphan URLs, and fix broken inbound routes with 301s.
