Ad Rank

What is Ad Rank?

Ad Rank combines bid, auction-time quality, ad extensions, and other factors to order ads—not simply “highest bid wins.”

Example: Advertiser A bids lower but has better expected CTR and extensions, beating Advertiser B’s raw bid.

Why Ad Rank matters

Ad Rank matters because it decides whether your ads show, where they appear, and what you effectively pay. Ignoring quality and extensions while only raising bids wastes budget and caps scale.

How Ad Rank works in digital marketing

Improve creative relevance, use extensions, optimize landing pages, and segment bids by device and geography.
